Restaurants 24/7

HERE’S ANOTHER PROJECT YOU COULD HELP ME WITH

This is a book that lists 24-hour restaurants throughout the USA. The original idea comes from The Original Pantry, 9th & Figueroa Sts. In Los Angeles. Opened in 1924 by Dewey Logan, it has never closed. In fact, there is no lock in the front door. It claims to serve over 6,000 meals a day. I first walked in the door in 1969, when Dewey Logan was still at the cash register (they still only take cash). They are renown for their breakfasts.

There are a number of 24-hour chains:

The Waffle House
Steak & Shake
Many McDonald’s
Many Denny’s

These will all be listed alphabetically by state and then city with address, but perhaps not a detailed review.

Below is the start of my list. Do you know more? In your city or others you have visited? Send then to me!

If you’re a frequent traveler and need such a list, print this out. I would LOVE to have your review of any of these 24/7 restaurants. Thanks

The Original Pantry
9th and Figueroa

This is one of my favorite restaurants of all-times and is the key restaurants behind this book. Opened in 1924, the Pantry has never closed. It doesn’t even have a lock on the door! Especially wonderful for breakfast, they serve huge portions of your basic meat-and-potato’s menu.

Hodori Restaurant

Los Angeles, CA 90006
(213) 383-3554

Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
(310) 545-8511

Categories: diners, american (traditional) Neighborhood: manhattan beach best casual late night choice. Good quality food. Open 24 hours. This is a better quality choice than most “open 24 hours” restaurants. The menu has many choices, the food is good, the bathrooms

Kitchen 24
1608 N Cahuenga Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90028
(323) 465-2424

Categories: diners, bars, breakfast & brunch Neighborhood: hollywood Happy hour. Kitchen 24 has a few issues to work out. You know it’s bad when Cahuenga smells better than the restaurant you just walked out of, what a mess. A 24 hour restaurant on cahuenga is a great idea
